Opening my store in 1980 saw the culmination of my dream of owning a men's clothing store; one that was first class in every way. I wanted this to be a family business, not only in ownership, but in the way I regard my staff and customers. My goal was to have this store become The Place to shop in South Carolina. I opened my store as an updated, traditional store, selling striped ties, button-down shirts and navy blazers. As time passed and tastes became more sophisticated; my buying patterns became more aggressive. Today, much of our merchandise comes from Europe and Canada. Classic tailoring is still our benchmark. I will always believe that serious business is still conducted in fine clothing. At Stanley Welch we can take our customers from the boardroom to corporate casual with ease.
